Trail Tested: 5 Dogs Who Love the Kurgo Loft Jacket

Posted by

We have a confession to make. When our co-founder Gordie’s dog was six, he spent a cold night outside in Vermont in early March. For those who don’t know, it’s more like “In like a lion, out like a lion” up there in late winter. Fortunately, the temperatures did not dip too low, but it was still very upsetting to find Baxter standing by the back door at 6 a.m. Thankfully, he was wagging his tail but was also very happy to come into the warm house. Since then, we’ve learned our lesson. Now Baxter rarely leaves the house without his coat if it’s cold. With seven color combinations to choose from, Baxter can even switch it up from time to time, making him the most stylish dog on the block.

He loves his Loft Jacket because it’s a reversible and water-resistant jacket designed for active dogs that are going to be running, hiking and adventuring in inclement weather (all things he loves to do!). Therefore, it is a more fitted jacket, allowing him to move freely. It does not cover the entire length of most dogs, and is designed to keep the core warm and dry. We think it’s the perfect solution for him out in the elements, but don’t just take our word for it. We found 5 other dogs we’ve seen putting our Loft Jacket to the test on Instagram and asked their humans to share what they love about this stylish and versatile coat.

1. @al_silvestri

This is Harper! She is a 3-year-old American Staffordshire terrier mix. We’re from Connecticut and we love to hike! We hike all over Connecticut as well as New England and New York. We especially love the Catskills and White Mountains.
We love this coat because it offers good protection from the elements but it’s also light weight. It’s great for late fall and early winter days. Bonus points as the design makes for an easy fit on bully breed dogs! Harper has the pink jacket (new for 2018!).

2. @workingdog_squad

I have two 6-year-old Boxer sisters named Keya and Bella and a 9-month-old Catahoula leopard dog. We live in Minnesota where the temperatures can drop far below freezing. Some of our favorite things to do are hiking, going to the park to play fetch, and to train in agility. The loft jacket has many great features including heavy duty Velcro, comfortable fit for mobility, and lastly my favorite feature: it is wind and water resistant. My girls and I have been putting the jackets to the test as far as durability goes and thus far they are holding up well. Overall, I am happy with the Loft jackets and look forward to more adventures with my pups staying warm in them.

3. @littlelouslifestyle

Louie is a two-year-old terrier mix from Providence, Rhode Island. He was rescued from a shelter in California and brought back to RI where he was then adopted by his forever family. Louie loves going on adventures and being outside. Walks, hikes, and chasing his squeaky toys are some of his favorite activities. Although he loves being outside, this little California boy hates being too cold. The Loft jacket is perfect for keeping him warm in the cold New England weather. He has the ink blue and sea glass color which looks great with his white fur. We love that Louie can stay warm but still comfortably run around, hike, and play in his Loft jacket.

4. @adventures.with.willow

Willow is a feisty, 9-month old German Short-haired Pointer who keeps us on our toes and is always ready for adventure! We live in Upstate NY, just outside the capital city of Albany, where we have access to amazing hikes - mountains, forests, water - you name it, we've got it. Willow has more energy than any dog I've ever met, and she loves nothing more than to join us on hikes where she can explore the woods off-leash, jump through the trees, plow through streams and run to her heart's content. We've always been an outdoorsy family, but the pure happiness Willow exudes when she finds a new trail has encouraged us to get out and explore as often as possible.

We have the ink blue/sea glass Loft Jacket and we love it because it keeps Willow warm and visible on our adventures without restricting her normal movements. Living in New York, we have harsh winters, and it’s not uncommon to see snow and temperatures in the single digits for days at a time. With her short coat and low body fat, it’s easy for Willow to get cold, and nothing makes me happier than having gear that can keep her toasty to weather anything that comes our way!

5. @cooper.max.adventures

Cooper is a mixed breed rescue pup originally from Mississippi but we live in New Hampshire. He is about 1 1/2 years old and loves to do anything outside. I found Cooper when he was 10 weeks old and ever since we have been exploring new places around New England. He is the best sidekick! This past summer and fall we tried to find a new hike in the White Mountains each weekend and we always take our Kurgo gear with us!

The Loft Jacket has been especially nice since it got cold so quickly here this fall we were able to continue our hikes without worrying as much about the cold and it doesn't restrain him one bit! Since Cooper has a shorter, thinner coat it is nice to have that extra layer for warmth and the bright colors make it easy to keep an eye on him in the woods as with his coloring he tends to blend in sometimes. Cooper is a stylish pup and owns both the red/gray coat and the blue/orange coat!
